New Jersey lawmakers are closer than ever to making marijuana legal, and one top legislator said a vote could come this fall. Senate President Stephen Sweeney told NJBIZ that a vote on legalizing marijuana could take place within the next month and be approved in the state Legislature by the end of September. “We’re getting closer to two pieces of legislation that’ll be ready to introduce,” Sweeney told NJBIZ. “We’re getting close this week to having the final draft for us to review, and then talk to our members and get ready to go.” Attorney General Gurbir Grewal has already asked for an adjournment of all marijuana cases in municipal courts statewide until at least Sept. 4.
