Al Charest / Postmedia As the City of Calgary prepares to begin accepting applications for cannabis stores this week, prospective retailers are being encouraged to skip the anticipated lineups at City Hall and apply online. Business owners can begin the application process for a development permit, building permit and business licence starting Tuesday at 8 a.m.  But the city is also warning retailers that no decisions will be made on the applications until the date of cannabis legalization, expected this summer, is confirmed by the federal government. That delay isn’t slowing down companies hoping to set up multiple storefronts in the city. In fact, local entrepreneurs say they’re happy to see the city getting a head start on the application process.  Darren Bondar, president and CEO of Inner Spirit, said the company plans to submit 17 applications on Tuesday. “We’re excited to be able to finally get some certainty about where we can and cannot open,” he said.
